The Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their first annual “Celebrating Hometown Proud” event tonight, featuring a dinner and business awards for leaders in the community.
A capacity crowd was on hand at the Haleyville Methodist Church fellowship hall for the event, which opened with a welcome speech by chamber president Mike Evans. 92.7 The Bee’s owner/manager Evan Tidwell then acted as emcee for the evening and announced the awards. Jud Mize provided live music from the stage during the event.
The special award recipients were as follows:
Leadership Award – Pastor Ricky White
Community Impact Award – Harvest of Hope
Community Champion Award – Kith Kitchens
Young Professional of the Year – Dr. Brooke Goar
New Business of the Year – Sanar Medical Clinic
Legacy Award – Dr. Ken Sunseri
Sunseri received a standing ovation at the announcement of his award, given in recognition of his many years of service both as a business owner in Haleyville with Whitt Jewelry, and as Mayor of Haleyville for 17 years.
