Joyce Hellen Skeens, age 91 of Haleyville, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Terrace Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Russellville.
Joyce was a lifelong resident of Haleyville. She enjoyed taking care of her home, cooking, and art (especially drawing and painting). Joyce loved country and gospel music. She was a member at First Baptist Church in Haleyville.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 9, 2026 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Winston Memorial Cemetery. Dr. Nathan Carroll will officiate.
Joyce is survived by her sons, Charles Daniel Skeens and John Cecil Skeens; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cecil Skeens, Jr.; parents, Hobson and Minnie Craft; daughter, Sandra Thrasher; grandson, Greg Thrasher; brothers, Royce Craft and Ralph Craft; and sister, Mary Ruth Reeves.
