The Haleyville City Council met for their regular meeting tonight, with all council members present.
The council unanimously approved the minutes from their previous meeting, and the March 2026 general operating bills and purchase orders.
Mayor Ray Boshell provided an update on funding possibilities for Lakeland Community Hospital, and the council unanimously voted to approve the $1.6 Million offer. Full coverage of this item will be in a separate article.
The council approved a measure to repair a wall adjacent to the Heart of Haleyville Park on 20th Street downtown, which was part of the old V.J. Elmore’s building that was demolished to build the park. The wall is abutted to a privately-owned structure that the city is pursuing a grant in order to purchase for restroom and meeting facilities at the park.
Councilman Brian Berry invited everyone to the Heart of Haleyville Park this Friday night at 7pm for “Singo” in the park, a version of bingo using song lyrics instead of numbers.
