Four local fire departments were called to a wildfire yesterday in the Booger Tree Community. Firefighters from Haleyville, Ashridge, Pebble, and Delmar responded to the call around 10:30 yesterday morning, in an area around Old County Road 440. We are told that several acres of woods and grass were burned.
Pebble Fire Department says the fire has been contained, and Alabama EMA and the State Forestry Commission have responded to the scene. Although we have not been informed of the cause, we do want to caution that conditions are very favorable for fires getting out of hand.
The Alabama Forestry Commission is asking you not to burn anything for now, and their Fire Danger Advisory is still in effect. The agency said it will monitor drought and wildfire conditions across the state and will evaluate whether further restrictions will be needed.
