Authorities have released the names of the two young men from Brilliant killed in a single-vehicle wreck early Wednesday morning.
17-year-old Braden Canterberry, and his 20-year-old brother Braxton Canterberry, died at the scene of the wreck on County Highway 36 north of Brilliant. An 18-year-old passenger in the SUV was airlifted for medical treatment and remains hospitalized.
The Marion County Sheriff’s office said they were called to a complaint of alcohol consumption at the Jasper Hill gravel pit, at approximately 2:00 am. While traveling down County Highway 36, deputies were passed by an SUV headed the opposite direction. The officers turned their vehicle around, and found the SUV crashed a short distance down the road.
The department said they want to make it clear they were not in pursuit of the vehicle when it crashed, and join the community in grieving their loss.
