Roney Lee Vickery, age 77 of Haleyville, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025 at Haleyville Rehab and Health Care. He was born May 28, 1948 to Van Vickery Sr. and Lillie Mae Vickery.
Roney loved his family, Alabama Football and his dogs, Tiny and Baby. He spent his years as a truck driver and was known by many as “Hornet Man”.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Botush Cemetery in Haleyville. Brother Mark Fell will officiate.
Roney is survived by his children, Bradley (Tameka) Vickery, Daniel (Jessica) Vickery, Amy Tidwell, Brandy (Bobby) Irwin and Sherry Hyde; grandchildren, Zachary Morgan, Tara (Jacob) Frazier, Wyatt Tidwell, Owen Vickery, Mazie Kate Vickery, Tristen Dye and Destin Dye; great grandchildren, Lillie Wright, Noah Wright, Masen Wright, Maggie Morgan, Grady Morgan and Brooklynne Whitten; brother, Gary Vickery.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Althea Taylor Vickery; parents, Van and Lillie Vickery; son in law, Chuck Morgan; brothers, Super Vickery, Clyde Vickery, Grady Vickery, Bill Vickery, Ralph Vickery and Bobby Vickery; sisters, Mildred Smith and Carolyn Barnett.
