Reta Kay Cook Gunter, age 75 of Arley, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at St. Vincents Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
She was born February 16, 1950 to James Lawrence and Wanda Cook. Reta Kay has gone to church at Arley First Baptist Church all of her life and at an early age of nine years old started playing piano and later, the organ. She served as pianist and later, organist at the Arley First Baptist Church up until she passed away.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Arley First Baptist Church in Arley, where the service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Dr. Roger White will officiate.
Reta is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles “Charlie” Gunter; son, Nick Gunter; brother-in-law, James “Bo” Gunter; sister-in-law, Deborah Cook; her precious golden doodle, Toby; and many other close relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Lawrence and Wanda N. Cook; and brother, James Mitchel Cook.
