Louis Ray Baker, 82, of Double Springs, Alabama, passed from this life on July 17, 2025. Born on January 2, 1943, Ray dedicated his life to his Lord, his family and his community.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill #2 Missionary Baptist Church, Double Springs, AL. Funeral service will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Brian Weems and Jeff Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill #2 Cemetery.
A longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #2 in Double Springs, Ray
served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Director, Choir Director, and
Brotherhood Director. He offered a compassionate ear and readily shared the gospel
with any who would listen.
Ray graduated from Winston County High School where he played the trombone in the
Pride of Winston County marching band. He then furthered his education at DeVry
Institute of Technology, where he earned an associate degree in Electronics
Engineering Technology. He became a journeyman electrician and was a proud
member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Ray also raised
cattle and broilers and was a respected member of the local Cattlemen’s Association.
A life long resident of Winston County, Ray also had a rich personal life filled with many
long friendships. A man of many interests, He enjoyed bowling, camping, and traveling.
His passion for Alabama Football and his love of family was evident to all who knew
him.
Ray is survived by his sons: Mike (Beth) Baker, Mark (Tammy) Baker, and Craig Baker;
grandchildren: Britt Lowie (Abigail), Kyle Baker, Brooke Boyles (Jordan), Garrett Baker,
Andrew Baker (Sara), Jonathan Baker, and Matthew Baker; great grandchildren Alena,
Delaney and Iyla Boyles; sister Kay Woods (Ricky) and brother Lowell Baker; as well as
a host other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Baker; his parents, Lacy and
Kathleen Baker; daughter-in-law, Dana Baker; brothers, Robert and Ledon Baker and
sister-in-law Debbie Baker.
