Qualifications closed yesterday across Alabama for the upcoming municipal election in August. Three offices in Haleyville will be filled by acclamation, those of City Council Places 1, 4, and 5.
In place 1, Todd Barton is elected to the council in the place vacated by Julie “Boo” Brooks as she changed places to qualify unopposed in Place 4, which was in turn vacated by Dr. Ray Boshell in order to run for Mayor. Brian Berry will retain his Place 5 seat as an unopposed incumbent.
Candidates who will be on the ballot in August are as follows:
Mayor:
Ken Sunseri (Incumbent)
Ray Boshell
Valeria Mae Buchanan Taylor
Brandy Chrysler
City Council:
Place #2: Samantha Thomas and Cade Lewis
Place #3: Lee Dobbs and Colton Corum
Municipal election day is August 26th, and runoffs if needed will be September 23rd.
