The Winston County Sheriff’s Office is warning of a phone scam where someone impersonates a deputy and demands money over the phone. The caller says you have missed a court date and must pay a fine or risk criminal action.
Winston County Sheriff Caleb Snoddy says no one from his office will ever make such a call, and please do not provide any personal information if you are contacted. If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and contact the Sheriff’s office or your local police department.
