Flash flooding has been a major problem early Sunday morning as a line of strong storms dumped several inches of rain across most locations in northwest Alabama. According to the National Weather Service, Haleyville received about four inches while Fayette and Lamar Counties saw more than five.
In Haleyville, a culvert has washed out on Ellenburg Road just off Highway 13 North. It has also interrupted utility service in the area. This is the road that turns off by the new Dollar General behind the old Sav-a-Lot supermarket.
