Mickie Duel “Mike” Norris, age 73 of Haleyville, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born to James Duel Norris and Dora Sue Hopson. He was known for his “Eeyore- like”, laid back personality. Mike had strong work ethic, was a loyal friend, and was always kind. He was strong in his faith. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had many friends while in the service, some of which never made it back home.
Family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
Micky is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joann Norris; sons, Mickie Norris, Jr., James Norris, and Timothy (Amie) Norris; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; mother, Dora Sue Hopson; brothers, Rick Hopson, Paul Hopson, Joey Hopson, and David Norris; sister, Victoria Norris; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Duel Norris; stepmother, Irene Norris; and sister, Kathleen Stehley.
Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville is assisting the family.
