The Haleyville Lions put on an absolute clinic on Friday night, delivering a crushing 55-0 shutout victory over the Danville Hawks.
Haleyville excelled in every phase of the game, exploding for 28 points in the second quarter alone to put the game out of reach before halftime.
The Lions’ offensive attack was highly efficient, racking up 391 total yards while limiting Danville to just 97 yards. Haleyville’s dual quarterbacks spearheaded a lethal passing game, combining for 226 yards and four touchdowns on 10-of-14 completions.
Ty Wilson got things started in the first quarter, connecting with Hayden Yarbrough on a 39-yard touchdown strike. Wilson later added a 1-yard touchdown run and a 26-yard scoring pass to Carson Gilbert just before the break. Dixon Evans took over the aerial assault later in the game, tossing two fourth-quarter touchdowns—a 20-yard pass to Joshua Boyles and a 38-yarder to Jed Crumpton.
On the ground, Haleyville was equally explosive, averaging a staggering 7.9 yards per carry. Brayden Hood provided the biggest highlight of the running game, breaking loose for a spectacular 50-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
While the offense lit up the scoreboard, the Lions’ defense and special teams units turned the game into a complete rout. The defensive front stifled Danville all night, allowing just 16 net passing yards and forcing two fumbles. The definitive play of the night came halfway through the second quarter: after Danville drove deep into Haleyville territory, Gavin Walker blocked a Hawks field goal attempt and scooped it up, racing 78 yards down the sideline for a touchdown.
With the victory, Haleyville moves forward carrying massive momentum from an all-around team performance. The Lions improve to 3-1 on the season, and 2-0 in Region play.
