Concrete work on the Highway 243 bridge south of Russellville is now complete, and ALDOT says crews will now work on the approaches to the bridge.
It appears the new roadway will be about a foot higher than the old surface, so crews will have to build up and level the roadbed before it can be paved.
AL-243 is currently detoured onto US-43 and AL-13 between Russellville and Haleyville, but is planned for reopening this summer. ALDOT officials have given no specific date.
