The City of Haleyville received a special award from the National Center for Sports Safety at the city council meeting on March 3rd. Dr. Larry Lemak presented the Safe Sports City Achievement Award for the city’s contributions to the nonprofit’s mission to educate coaches, trainers, and others on sports injury prevention and response.
The Center’s current program was developed through a partnership between the cities of Haleyville and Hoover, with a special focus on the safety of kids playing sports. The training and expertise offered by the NCSS is used by several state athletic associations and national sports organizations.
