Lemmie “Gene” Lewis, age 79 of Double Springs, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025 at Hendrix Health and Rehabilitation in Double Springs.
He was born July 29, 1946 to Lemmie and Gladys Lewis. Gene loved working on lawn mowers and keeping his lawn cut. You could always find him patrolling the neighborhood on his lawn mower when he wasn’t truck driving. He answered to the name of “Rebel”.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m.
Gene is survived by his wife, Noreen Lewis; children, Lynn (Tina) Lewis, Tony (Tracy) Lewis, Derek Lewis, Anna (Donald) Green, Punky (Robert) Montgomery, Barbara (John) Cole, Mario (Selene) Abrego, Jeannie (Donovan) Sanchez, and Cole (Melanie) Atkins; sister, Judy Bennett; brother, James Lewis; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Lemmie and Gladys Lewis; siblings, Leola Hall, Bud Lewis, Donnie Rice, Pearl Baldy and Tiny Dempsey.
