Fred Henry, age 90 of Haleyville, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Haleyville Health and Rehabilitation center. Fred was born February 26, 1935, to Dee and Mattie Henry.
He was an avid farmhand who loved nothing more than to be outside working. Fred would take odd jobs from other people just to be outside. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found on his front porch swing with a glass of ice-cold water telling all manner of stories about his life. Fred was a simple man, but more so an honest man. He worked hard and never said much but when he did people listened. Fred always told you exactly what he meant and was a man of his word.
A visitation will be held at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, Alabama on Wednesday July 2, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. where a funeral service will take place. Burial will take place at Winston Memorial Cemetery. Brother Gary Wakefield will officiate.
Fred is survived by his sons, Leeroy (Dana) Henry, Aubrey Henry; daughters, Martha (Frank) Clark, Debbie Bell, Mary (Clinton) Walker; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Mattie Henry; brothers, Gurtis Henry, Virgil Henry, Gordon Henry; sisters, Margaret Garner, Berthy Jackson, Evelyn King, Perline Terry, Lolamae Henry; nephews, Bobby Henry, J.L. Henry; and niece, Susie Henry-Sanchez.
