Charles Rayburn Vinson, 82, passed away on January 4, 2026. Visitation will be on Thursday January 8, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville, AL with the funeral being at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. The burial will follow at Franklin Memory Gardens. Tommy James will be officiating with music provided by Charles’ sister-in-law, Anna Thorn and nephew, Elliot Thorn; and in a special tribute to Charles and his love for bluegrass music, the Backwoods Bluegrass Band.
He was preceded in death by mother, Maxine B. Thorn, adoptive father, Luther Thorn, Jr., birth father, Royce Vinson and brother, Bruce G. Thorn.
He is survived by daughter, Tabitha Campbell (Todd), grandchildren Nehemiah and Naomi Campbell and sister, Bonnie V. Duckworth. He is also survived by other grandchildren including Melissa Hasting, who he loved dearly.
Charles graduated from the Russellville school system where he served as the manager of the Russellville Golden Tigers’ football team. He loved God, his family, and bluegrass music.
Serving as pallbearers are: Milton Boyd, Roger Boyd, Jimmy Bragwell, Nehemiah Campbell, Todd Campbell and Elliot Thorn.
