The Pebble Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire just after 5pm Thursday, on Highway 195 east of the Highway 243 intersection. A minivan caught fire and was pulled over in a turn lane, when members of the Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department of Hamilton happened upon the van.
According to officials, the firemen were on their way to EMT training when they stopped and used fire extinguishers on the vehicle to contain the blaze. Pebble VFD arrived shortly thereafter and used their pumper truck to finish putting out the fire. These volunteer firefighters’ quick thinking and disregard for their own safety likely prevented the incident from escalating.
There were no injuries, but sadly the family lost their van. A GoFundMe account has been set up by the van owner’s mother to help raise money to buy a new vehicle. If you are able to help, please visit https://gofund.me/5d02f146
