Your Busy Bee Community Calendar for November 20th:
Applications are available now for the annual Toys For Kids drive hosted by the Haleyville Rotary Club. The application period will be open through December 5th. Paper applications can be picked up and dropped back off at several locations around Haleyville, which will also be participating in the toy donation drive. Those locations include BankFirst, First National Bank, Jolly Dan’s Hardware, Lakeland Community Hospital, and Alabama Power.
The House of Refuge invites you to join them as they celebrate Pastor Ricky White’s 32 years preaching the Gospel, this Sunday at 3pm. Guest speakers will be Reverend Dwight Tiggs and Sister Ruby Tiggs. The church is located at 140 Union Grove Church Road, Haleyville.
Our two local first responder motorcycle clubs, the Red Knights and Iron Angels, will host a turkey shoot fundraiser in Pebble on Saturday morning, November 29th. Proceeds will be used to purchase Christmas presents for children in Winston County. The event will start at 8am and will be at the corner of Highway 243 and County Road 3423 in Pebble.
The Delmar Fire Department is selling Boston Butts and Smoked Ham for Iron Bowl weekend this year! Preorder yours now for pickup on November 29th. Boston Butts are 30 dollars, shredded for an extra five dollars. Smoked Hams are 35. Call 205-272-2447 to reserve yours! All proceeds from the fundraiser will help Delmar Volunteer Fire Department continue their service to the community.
Christmas in The City will take place Saturday December 6th, beginning at noon in downtown Haleyville. Vendor booths open at noon, and special music and performances in the Heart of Haleyville Park also begin at noon. Santa will be in the park from 2 to 4pm, so bring your camera or phone for photos with him! The Christmas tree lighting will take place at 4:30, and the parade begins at 5:30. So make plans to come out to Christmas in The City on December 6th!
Also on December 6th, the Haleyville Public Library will have special kids activities during Christmas in The City from Noon to 2pm. Kids have the opportunity to write letters to Santa and receive a special treat bag while they are there.
There will be an old fashioned Sacred Harp singing school at Concord Primitive Baptist Church in Winfield, Friday and Saturday December 5th and 6th from 6 to 8pm each evening. The school is free and you’re invited to attend both the singing school and the Sacred Harp singing on Sunday, December 7th beginning at 10am. There will be both morning and afternoon sessions. Christmas At The Lake will begin Thursday December 11th and will run through Christmas night at City Lake in Haleyville. Any church, business, or civic organization wishing to put out a display should contact Gary Sutliff at 205-269-8622.
