Billy Wayne Whitman, age 87 of Haleyville, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at his residence.
He was born October 7, 1938 to John and Dessie Whitman. Billy enjoyed yard work and being outdoors. He was a member of the Myers Hill Missionary Church where he taught adult Sunday school for over 30 years. Billy loved the Lord and was a good Christian man.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Myers Hill Missionary Church Cemetery. Brother Ronnie Melvin and Brother Chris Hand will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tim Sibley, Randy Foster, David Yielding, Bryan Dickinson, Phillip Batchelor and Ridge Miles.
Billy is survived by his wife of 63 years, 11 months, and 23 days, Fayrene Whitman; sons, Keith (Betty) Whitman and Danny Wayne (Sherri) Whitman; daughter, Pamela Whitman; grandchildren, Nicole Johnigan, Bethany Jo (Phillip) Batchelor, Leigha Edwards, Amber Edwards, Camellia Garrison, and Timothy Wayne Whitman; great grandchildren, Ridge Miles, Rhett Miles, Jet Batchelor and Kaleb Garrison; and a host of nieces and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his father, John William Whitman; mother, Dessie Arvenie Pinkard Kelly; sister, Dewanda Gail Pastell; daughters, Camellia Renee Whitman, and Tammarie Denise “Tammy” Martin.
