The Alabama Forestry Commission is asking the public to avoid outdoor burning, and has issued a wildfire advisory for this weekend. The Commission says they are restricting burn permits and cautions that anyone burning fields or woodlands without a permit can be subject to prosecution.
Five local fire departments responded to a wildfire in eastern Winston County yesterday afternoon, where more than 30 acres were burned. Firemen report the wildfire started when a homeowner lost control of a burning leaf pile.
